Ready to Outsource? Here Are 3 Outsourcing Tips From A Fellow Web Designer!

Are you currently DIY-ing your website or thinking about creating a website… and you're just beginning to realize what a HUGE time sucker it is to build and update a website?!

Well, you're not alone!

So many small businesses, solopreneurs and freelancers feel this pressure to have to do absolutely EVERYTHING!

I get it because I was the same. I used to feel proud to DIY everything from accounting to marketing (and designing all the pins for my Pinterest) to my actual design work.

But recently, I made the leap and decided to outsource parts of my work that I didn't like doing and that I (quite frankly) was not very good at.

How’s it going so far?

Out of all the enthusiastic applications I got with varying hourly rates, I ended up hiring an expert who was at the more expensive side of the spectrum.

And you know what?

It feels SO darn good and freeing to have her onboard, taking all this weight (and guilt of never getting around to certain tasks) off my shoulders!

She's absolutely amazing and fantastic at her craft! Best and scariest decision I've made this year! And so worth it!

So, as a fellow creative, I’d love to share some of the biggest realizations and learnings during my outsourcing experience.

Top 3 Outsourcing Tips from a Fellow Web Designer:

  • hire experts, even if that means paying premium - they'll do it much faster and better, plus get you better returns on your investment.

  • outsource the things you're not good at and dislike doing, because with over 7 billion people in the world, there's bound to be someone who likes doing exactly what you don't (and is an expert at it!).

  • track your tasks for a week, write them all down and the amount of time it took you. Then go through them daily and rank them in priority (1-5 with 1 being the most important tasks that only YOU can do). The 4's and 5's are the ones to outsource first ;)

Some of these questions were ones I asked myself before deciding to outsource, so I'm sure they'll prompt some valuable trail of thoughts for you too!
